From vineyard through to bottle the grapes are guided with a deft touch creating wines with character, texture and sense of place. Each wine has its own identity, not cookie cutter styles. They’re fermented using natural yeast, and bottled without the use of fining agents and filtration. The resulting wines have garnered recognition from Australia’s best scribes – with Five Stars from Halliday, The Real Review Top Winery status, and Max Allen citing them as “the best new wines from the region”, add to this a wine being runner up for Australia’s Jimmy Watson Trophy and you know this winery is the real deal.

In Nick’s words: “At Wines of Merritt we seek to make low-intervention wines of texture and character. This allows our wines to express their sense of place and aligns with our values of minimal inputs in the winemaking process. Using grapes farmed with care, sensitive winemaking, light glass, sustainable packaging, even plant-based tape for the packing boxes. The wine is part of the whole, it’s important to make it without manipulation & mucking about. Our wines are leaning to Europe in style, showing more shape and texture than traditional bright fruited Aussie pours. A desire to leave things in a better state than when we arrived, drives us in the vineyard and winery”
